Research by William J. Duffy, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8867, has turned up 21 names of soldiers who died who hailed from Brick going back to the Civil War. Some of their names are memorialized at the township's War Memorial but Duffy's research has turned up additional names. Many of them are now memorialized with banners at Windward Beach Park.
The war memorial in front of the municipal building was renovated and rededicated in 2020.
