Brick Fire District Elections: What You Need To Know

The fire district elections will be held Tuesday. Here's who's running and how to vote.

BRICK, NJ — Fire district elections are underway in Brick Township Tuesday. The annual elections include a vote on the districts' budgets and election of fire commissioners.

Voting is from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and open to registered voters.

Here is where to vote in person, who's running for fire commissioner seats, and budget information.

There are three fire districts in Brick. Each district's budget is voted on separately; in total, the tax impact is less than $200 per year for a home at the township's average assessed value of $299,900.

The budgets cover insurance, training, education, protective equipment for the volunteer firefighters, professional services for the Joint Board of Fire Commissioners, and things such as fire hydrant rentals from the Brick Township MUA.

You can vote by going in person to the firehouse for the district that covers your general election voting district. The polls are open until 9 p.m.

FIRE DISTRICT 1

Voting is at the Pioneer Hose Fire House, 312 Drum Point Road. The following general election districts are in Fire District 1: Districts 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 16, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 44, 45, 46, 49, 50, 53 and 55.

CANDIDATE FOR FIRE COMMISSIONER (Choose one): James J. Riccio.

BUDGET QUESTION: Whether the Board of Fire Commissioners of Fire District No. 1 shall operate for the year 2021 with a budget of $2,528,945, representing $1,926,945 operating appropriations; $602,000 capital and debt service appropriations, with money to be raised by taxation to support the district budget in an amount of $2,508,000.

FIRE DISTRICT 2

Voting is at the Laurelton Fire House, Route 88 and Olden Street. These are the general election districts encompassed by Fire District 2: Districts 3, 4, 5, 12, 14, 15, 18, 23, 24, 30, 31, 32, 38, 40, 43, 47 and 51.

CANDIDATES FOR FIRE COMMISSIONER (Choose one): Ronald M. Braen Jr.; Jeffrey T. Richards. One three-year term available

BUDGET QUESTION: Whether the Board of Fire Commissioners of District No. 2 shall operate for the year 2021 with a budget of $1,951,875, representing $1,381,661 operating appropriations; $570,214 capital and debt service appropriations, with money to be raised by taxation to support the district budget in an amount of $1,925,000.

FIRE DISTRICT 3

Voting is at the Herbertsville Fire House, 601 Herbertsville Road, Brick, New Jersey. Fire District No. 3 comprises Election Districts 1, 2, 17, 22, 27, 28, 29, 39, 41, 42, 48, 52, 54, 56 and 57 within the Township of Brick.

CANDIDATES FOR FIRE COMMISSIONER (Choose two): James J. LePore Jr.; Christopher J. Manseur

BUDGET QUESTION: Whether the Board of Fire Commissioners of Fire District No. 3 shall operate for the year 2021 with a budget of $2,081,261, representing $1,157,251 operating appropriations; $924,010 capital and debt service appropriations with money to be raised by taxation to support the district budget in an amount of $1,461,000.
