Brick Girls Soccer Coach Reaches Milestone
Mike Berardinelli was feted by his team on Friday after its victory over Central Regional.

BRICK, NJ — Earning victories is never an easy thing in the always-challenging Shore Conference Class A South division of girls soccer.
Year after year, the teams duel for the division title. In a high school sports landscape where coaching tenures are increasingly shorter, coaching milestones are fewer and more difficult to come by.
So on Friday afternoon, the Brick Township Green Dragons had more than one reason to celebrate their Class A South victory over Central Regional. The win put them above .500, which keeps them in the hunt for a second straight trip to the Shore Conference Tournament.

Just as importantly, however, it was coach Mike Berardinelli's 100th victory. He has been the Dragons' head coach since 2004, and over his tenure the Dragons have continued to improve, qualifying for the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 3 tournament for the last three years, as well as reaching the SCT for the first time in six years last year.
The victory over Central was the start of Brick's second round of Class A South games. This week the Dragons are on the road at Southern. They will need to stay at .500 or above the rest of the way to return to the Shore Conference Tournament.
