Brick Memorial High School Alumni Student Puts Pressure on Governor Murphy to get his attention in order to restore funding for the state program "School Based Youth Services Program".

The Alumni Student who would like to remain anonymous has reached out to me to provide how this program has helped her personally over the years during her years at Veterans Memorial Middle and Brick Memorial.

She mentioned to me that she went to the "Virtual Rally" that has over 500+ attendees. The people included were School-Based Staff, Students, Parents and Alumni from several schools, Legislators, Assembly Members.

She has provided me the letter that was sent to Governor Murphy to show importance on how the School Based Youth Service Program has helped her over the years. This program has always been available in schools starting at Middle School and onward. Since COVID-19 and virtual learning, kids and teens need the support from School Based more then ever before.

Many kids and teens have a hard homelife and day to day situation and they need a person to be able to talk to during the school year. Specially from someone who is safe and familiar to them.

She would like to personally thank School-Based Counselors Melissa Mattia, Randi Bell and Anna Yavener who worked at Veterans Memorial Middle to helping her through the most troubling time and also for helping her find her now best friends.

She would like to provide her personal appreciation below:

"I hold a special place in my heart for Melissa Mattia. She is the reason I was introduced to my best friend and I firmly believe he is the reason I am here today. You are forever in my heart and missed every day."

"I would also like to say thank you to Randi Bell and Anna Yavener for helping me navigate the upsetting and difficult times I was going through during adolescents. I have grown up to advocate others because you taught my to advocate for myself. Thank you."
