Brick Ordinance Would Lower Speed Limit On Part Of Princeton Ave.

The plan to lower the speed limit is the result of a study by Ocean County officials and came at the request of residents, the town said.

BRICK, NJ — Motorists on Princeton Avenue would be forced to slow down east of Beaver Dam Road under an ordinance introduced by Brick Township officials on Tuesday evening.

The ordinance would reduce the speed limit from 40 mph to 25 mph on that stretch of Princeton Avenue, according to the draft posted with the Township Council agenda.

The ordinance comes at the request of Ocean County officials, who conducted traffic studies at the request of residents along Princeton Avenue, Brick Township officials said.

The residents' request included all of Princeton Avenue, but county officials determined only the stretch east of Beaver Dam Road was eligible for the speed reduction, according to the draft ordinance.

The second reading is scheduled for the June 9 Township Council meeting. The council is meeting on a Wednesday because of the primary election on June 8.
