Brick Schools To Expand In-Person Learning For Elementary Level
The district is moving forward with the plan they put on hold before winter break.

BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township School District is planning to shift to four days of in-person instruction for elementary school students, beginning Feb. 22, the superintendent announced Tuesday.
“Previously, we provided a tentative schedule for Phase 2, which will offer 4 days per week in-person,” said Thomas Farrell, superintendent of the Brick Township Schools. “We noted that we would continue to monitor and adjust each level of Phase 2 as we stage back in different student populations.”
Elementary school students in kindergarten through fifth grade will have four days of instruction in person, Farrell said. Parents will continue to have the option to keep their children on virtual instruction even as the school makes the shift to in-person.

“After monitoring the initial Phase 2 with elementary students, it is our hope that middle schools and high schools will begin Phase 2 a few weeks later,” he said.
The district had been discussing expanding in-person instruction back in December, but as case counts spiked around the holidays, the decision was made to postpone the plans until the increase in coronavirus cases slowed.

In recent weeks, the growth in the case rate has slowed both locally and statewide, leading to the district resuming its plans.
