Brick Township 2021 Budget Introduction Set For Tuesday
The township council also is scheduled to hold its public hearing on a proposed ordinance to ban any cannabis businesses in the town.

BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township Council is scheduled to introduce the 2021 budget when it meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The council is holding its meeting via Zoom due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In addition to the budget introduction, the council agenda includes a public hearing and vote on a proposed ordinance to ban all cannabis businesses within the township.

The council introduced the ordinance at the April 13 meeting. The proposed ordinance would replace the township's ban on commercial marijuana businesses that was enacted in 2018. Read more: Brick Set To Ban All Cannabis Businesses
Towns have until August to enact ordinances banning cannabis businesses under regulations approved by the state, after New Jersey voters approved legalizing recreational marijuana use by adults. In Brick, there were 27,205 votes (65.08 percent) in favor of legalizing adult use, and 14,599 votes (34.92 percent) opposing legalization, out of 41,804 votes cast on the question in the 2020 election, according to the official results from the Ocean County Clerk's office.
