Brick Traffic Safety Officer Retires, 4 Officers Join Force
Patrolman Jay Lampiasi is retiring after 25 years on the Brick force, 18 years of which he was part of the Traffic Safety Unit.
BRICK, NJ — A longtime member of the Brick Township Police Department has retired, and as he departs, the department also is honoring the graduation of four officers who are joining the Brick Township police force.
Patrolman Gerard “Jay” Lampiasi retired from the department after 25 years of service. He spent seven years on the road on patrol and served in the Traffic Safety Unit for 18 years. Lampiasi also served for five years on the township’s Special Emergency Response Team, and also on the Fatal Accident Support Team at the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
He also headed the department’s Special Law Enforcement Officer 1 Police Academy for five years and served on several boards and groups involved with traffic and highway safety, the department said.

In addition to Lampiasi, Special Law Enforcement Officer I Lieutenant Vinnie Sciarappa retired recently, ending a 34-year career.
As the department bids farewell, it also is welcoming four new officers, who recently graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy.

Patrolmen Corey Rackliffe, Jeffrey Maehl, John Canterelli, and Matt Farnkopf all graduated Feb. 16 from the academy and will be joining the department.
Rackliffe, 29, is a U.S. Army veteran and has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Kean University. He graduated from Brick High School in 2010.
Maehl, 31, is a U.S. Navy veteran and has a master’s degree in emergency management from John Jay College. He graduated from Westfield High School in 2007.
Canterelli, 24, serves in the Army Reserves and is a 2015 graduate of Brick High School.
Farnkopf, 20, graduated from Brick Memorial in 2019 and is studying biochemistry at Rutgers University.
During the police academy graduation ceremony, Sgt. Jim Kelly was honored by the academy for his work as an instructor.
