Brick Woman Accused Of $260K Theft From Employer
Jessica Duffy was a bookkeeper for a marine contractor; authorities say she wrote checks to herself and forged authorizing signatures.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township woman has been charged in the theft of about $260,000 from the marine contractor where she was a bookkeeper, authorities said Friday.
Jessica Duffy, 37, is accused of writing numerous checks to herself from the company account of R.H. LeChard Marine Contractors in Point Pleasant, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Point Pleasant Police Chief Robert Lokerson said in a joint news release.
Duffy was arrested Thursday following the investigation, which found she had written numerous checks to herself during the course of her employment, authorities said. They did not say how long she had worked for the company.

Duffy was not authorized to sign checks on the company account and forged the signature of the company manager on each check, then deposited them into her personal account, authorities said.
She was charged with theft and forgery and released pending a future court date.
