Drink-Throwing Road Rage Incident Leads To Drug Charges In Brick

A second incident led to shoplifting charges after police discovered more than $750 in items taken from Home Depot, Brick police said.

BRICK, NJ — Four people are facing drug charges after a pair of investigations — including of a road rage incident —by the Brick Township Police Department's Street Crimes Unit, police said.

On May 20, Street Crimes Unit detectives saw a road rage incident about 4 p.m. on Cedar Bridge Avenue where a person in one vehicle threw a frozen drink at the driver of the other vehicle, Patrol Officer Victoria Finelli said Wednesday.

Police pulled over the vehicle in the parking lot at La-Z-Boy Furniture on Route 70, and their investigation found cocaine and drug paraphernalia, she said.

Stephanie Abad, 25, of Brick, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine, and possession of paraphernalia. She also was charged with allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, and throwing debris from a motor vehicle, Finelli said.

Corey Johnson, 26, of Toms River, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine, and possession of paraphernalia, and with driving while suspended, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, and obstruction of traffic, she said.

Abad and Johnson were released on summonses, Finelli said.

Street Crimes Unit detectives investigating a suspicious vehicle on Drum Point Road about 3 p.m. Monday charged two people in connection with $759 in merchandise stolen from the Home Depot in Lakewood, Finelli said.

Detectives also found heroin and paraphernalia in the investigation, she said.

Joseph Roder, 27, of Brick, was charged with shoplifting, receiving stolen property, possession of heroin and possession of a hypodermic syringe, and was taken to the Ocean County Jail, she said.

Laryssa Rodrigues, 22, of Brick, was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of heroin and possession of paraphernalia, and she was taken to the Ocean County Jail, Finelli said.
