Four Arrested On Drug Charges By Brick Police

BRICK, NJ — Four more people have been arrested on drug charges as the Brick Township Police Department's Street Crimes Unit continues to conduct surveillance near the Wawa on Brick Boulevard, police said.

Three people were arrested Jan. 15 near the Wawa at 116 Brick Blvd., and a fourth person was arrested near there on Tuesday, Sgt. Jim Kelly said.

On Jan. 15, police pulled over a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation following surveillance by the unit. Sgt. Paul Catalina and K-9 Duke responded, and a search led to the discovery of heroin, hypodermic syringes and drug paraphernalia, Kelly said.

Kelly said those arrested and their charges were:

The driver, Kyle Fisher, 30, of Manchester, was charged with possession of heroin, hypodermic syringes and drug paraphernalia, and received several motor vehicle summonses.

Jordan Scott, 28, of Barnegat, was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, hypodermic syringes, drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, and throwing debris from a motor vehicle.

William Barbato, 42, of Howell, was charged with possession of heroin, hypodermic syringes and drug paraphernalia.

All three were released on summonses, Kelly said.

On Tuesday, detectives saw a woman sitting in a vehicle behind the Wawa snorting a bag of what appeared to be a controlled dangerous substance, Kelly said. The investigation found uncovered torn wax folds of heroin inside the vehicle, he said.

Alba Lekaj, 23, of Beachwood, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, paraphernalia, a hypodermic syringe, failure to turn over a controlled dangerous substance to police, and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, an addition to motor vehicle summonses, Kelly said.

"The Brick Township Police Department remains committed to being proactive in the fight against criminal drug activity and any behavior that would otherwise disrupt the quality of life of our citizens and of those who visit our town," Kelly said.
