Happy Mother's Day To Martha Horstman

BRICK, NJ — Whether it's through their personalities, looks, hobbies, or a combination of everything, children become a reflection of the woman who raised them.

With Mother's Day 2021 right around the corner, we are celebrating that special bond by inviting Patch readers across the state to share their mother-daughter and mother-son photos. Happy Mother's Day!

Daisy Haffner submitted the following for mom Martha Horstman:

Why she is special: My Mom has a heart of pure gold. She has always been a volunteer even when our family didn't have much to give or offer. From being a class mom when we were younger, to helping out in church, she now dedicates her time to dog rescues and volunteering at the Restore for Habitat for Humanity. My Mom is stronger than she thinks. I wish she could see that about herself. She has been a wonderful Mom and role model to both me and my brother, Danny. Of course, she treats her son-in-law, Ken, and daughter-in-law, Alyson, as if they were her own children too. Since our families all live in Brick, she is very involved in all of her four (Dani, Aidan, Chase and Payton) grandchildren's lives. Just like when I was kid, she still attends every concert, show, recital, game and ceremony. My Mom loves animals but she has a special bond with dogs. Her two dogs, Sally and Wilma, keep her busy and make her life complete. In addition to all of that, she is great at crafts, and sewing and baking. My mom is a very creative person and enjoys making lots of homemade projects for everyone she knows. My Mom is special for all of these reasons and so many more!
