Snickers, Cat Who Escaped Brick Fire, Reunited With Family
Snickers escaped when lightning struck a Cherry Quay home, but now is back with her family.

BRICK, NJ — A cat who escaped her family's home amid a fire caused when lightning struck it during Friday's thunderstorms has been reunited with her family.
Daniellee Schimpf said Snickers escaped their home on Royal Drive in the Cherry Quay section during the fire Friday morning but by late Friday they had captured the tabby and had her safely inside.
"Firefighters confirmed that she escaped the house," Schimpf said. "She’s never been outside before."

The home was left uninhabitable as a result of the fire, she said they were told. Severe lightning moved through Brick early Friday as people were starting their workdays, with multiple lightning strikes reported.
