How Much Is COVID Spreading In Ocean County With Delta Variant?
The variant accounted for more than 96 percent of NJ cases over a four-week period. Here's the town-by-town case growth in Ocean County.

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ ? Ocean County and New Jersey have seen an uptick in coronavirus cases. But what does that mean for each town? (See town-by-town totals below.)
The county averaged 292 new cases per day in the past week, while averaging 173 new daily cases the prior week, according to the Ocean County Health Department.
Despite the recent growth in new cases, that may mean only a few new infections a week in certain towns ? or none in smaller municipalities.

But officials continue to monitor the delta variant, which accounted for 96.3 percent of coronavirus cases in New Jersey over a four-week period ending on Aug. 14, CDC numbers show.
Ocean County and all of the Central Jersey East region has "high" COVID-19 activity, according to New Jersey's latest weekly report. The determination is based on metrics such as case rate, positivity rate and prevalence of COVID-like illnesses. The region has the second-highest case rate in the state at 19.54 cases per 100,000 and a 6.79 percent positivity rate.

There have been 86 new hospitalizations in Ocean County from Aug. 16 through Sept. 7, according to the Ocean County Health Department. The first week of September had 18 new hospitalizations, a decrease from the 34 reported from Aug. 26-31. The county does not provide a breakdown by age for the recent hospitalizations, nor does the county have a breakdown by day of how many COVID patients have been released from hospitals.
The county's data, as of noon Friday, reflects the seven-day totals for the towns. Here's how much case totals have climbed in each town in that time:
- Barnegat Light: 0 new cases, 40 total cases, 0 percent increase
- Barnegat Township: 41, 2,355 total cases, 1.77 percent increase
- Bay Head: 3 new cases, 89 total cases, 3.49 percent increase
- Beach Haven: 1 new cases, 86 total cases, 1.18 percent increase
- Beachwood: 25 new cases, 1,277 total cases, 1.99 percent increase
- Berkeley Township: 84 new cases, 4,793 total cases, 1.78 percent increase
- Brick Township: 166 new cases, 10,036 total cases, 1.68 percent increase
- Eagleswood Township: 3 new cases, 172 total cases, 1.78 percent increase
- Harvey Cedars: 2 new cases, 20 total cases, 11.11 percent increase
- Island Heights: 1 new case, 152 total cases, 0.66 percent increase
- Jackson Township: 170 new cases, 7,206 total cases, 2.42 percent increase
- Lacey Township: 55 new cases, 3,072 total cases, 1.82 percent increase
- Lakehurst: 3 new cases, 339 total cases, 0.89 percent increase
- Lakewood: 212 new cases, 14,598 total cases, 1.47 percent increase
- Lavallette: 2 new cases, 193 total cases, 1.05 percent increase
- Little Egg Harbor Township: 46 new cases, 2,000 total cases, 2.35 percent increase
- Long Beach Township: 2 new cases, 230 total cases, 0.88 percent increase
- Manchester: 91 new cases, 4,748 total cases, 1.95 percent increase
- Mantoloking: 0 new cases, 29 total cases, 0 percent increase
- Ocean Gate: 0 new cases, 203 total cases, 0 percent increase
- Ocean Twp. (Waretown): 11 new cases, 748 total cases, 1.49 percent increase
- Pine Beach: 4 new cases, 197 total cases, 2.07 percent increase
- Plumsted Township: 14 new cases, 769 total cases, 1.85 percent increase
- Point Pleasant Beach: 8 new cases, 573 total cases, 1.42 percent increase
