John 'Captain Jack' G. Kennell Of The Norma-K Fishing Fleet Dies At 77
Services for owner and operator of Ken's Landing Marina in Point Pleasant Beach will be held on Sunday.

John “Captain Jack” G. Kennell, 77, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Sunday, August 16, 2015.
Born in Lakewood, to the late John P. and Myrtle Kennell, he lived in Point Pleasant for all of his life.

Jack was partner, owner, and operator of Ken’s Landing Marina, Point Pleasant Beach and United States Coast Guard Sea Captain of the Norma-K Fishing Fleet, a business started by his father in 1934.
He was a graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School, Rutgers University and Princeton University. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard.

Active and vocal in local politics, Jack was a former member of the Borough of Point Pleasant Board of Education. He also was a member of the Point Pleasant Republican Club and the Point Pleasant Beach Lions Club.
Surviving are his sister, Norma Kennell Keller and her husband Kenneth; and his son, Andrew Testerman. Also surviving are his niece, Sharon Keller Hawryluk; great nieces, Maile and Nani Hawryluk; step-children, John H. Reach, III, Donald Reach, and Carolyn Reach; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many friends.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Aug.t 23 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. Cremation will be held privately.
