Lakewood Man Charged With Exposing Himself to Child

20-year-old being held in the Ocean County Jail

A Lakewood man has been charged by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office with exposing himself to an 11-year-old child, officials said.

Ruperto Marroquin, 20, is facing charges of lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the prosecutor's office.

The arrest was the result of an investigation initiated on Tuesday by Lakewood Police Detective Joseph Gregg and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit Detective Melissa Matthews, Della Fave said. The investigation continued Wednesday with an interview by Matthews of an 11-year-old female victim who disclosed that the defendant exposed himself to her a month ago.

Marroquin is being held in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $52,000 cash bail set by Superior Court Judge Rochelle Gizinski. He was also ordered not to have any contact with his alleged victim.

Detective Scott Frey of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminalistics Investigations Unit assisted in the investigation with evidence collection, Della Fave said.

A photo of Marroquin was not yet available, officials said.
