Ocean County's COVID Cases: See Town-By-Town Updates

Ocean County remains in the orange zone; the rate of cases has ticked up in recent weeks, according to data from the county and state.

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — Ocean County's coronavirus case rate has crept up again over the last week, as it has for the last few weeks (see town-by-town totals below).

Ocean County recorded 57,904 cases of the coronavirus through Friday, according to the Ocean County Health Department. That is an increase of 1,868 cases, or 3.3 percent, from March 19, when 56,036 were reported.

The disease's impact is reflected in the state Department of Health's most recent "COVID-19 Activity Level Report," which is issued weekly. The most recent report, released Thursday, says Ocean County remains in the orange zone.

If the county is in the orange zone, it means it has a rate of 10 to 25 cases per 100,000 people. Yellow means the county has a rate 1 to 10 cases per 100,000 people.

Ocean County is in New Jersey's Central East region. Its case rate rose for the week ending March 20, to 38.93 cases per 100,000 people. That rate is up from 36.63 reported for March 13 and falls into the "very high" zone.

The percentage of COVID-like illnesses ticked down slightly, to 6.27, from 6.46 for March 13. The percent positivity rose significantly, to 9.69 from 8.50. The state's CALI report lags the current case counts by a week.

The cumulative town-by-town totals as of March 26 are below. The number in parentheses shows the number of cases from the week before.

Ocean County has had 1,829 residents who have died of complications from the coronavirus. There have been no deaths in those 18 and under; there were 33 people age 19 to 44; 233 age 45 to 64; 334 age 65 to 74; 568 age 75 to 84, and 661 people who were 85 or older have died, according to the county health department. The youngest person from Ocean County who died was 20 years old, and the oldest was 103.

The health department's data does not include a breakdown of how many people who died had underlying conditions other than to say that heart disease was a significant contributing factor.

Here are the town-by-town numbers. If the town shows a decrease this week, it reflects a correction based on the person's actual address as opposed to the mailing address.
