When a mom ran out of gasoline with her kids in the car, a Brick police officer made sure she could get on her way again.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township police officer was caught in the act of kindness after a motorist ran out of gas earlier this week.

Brick Township police shared a photo on social media that was sent in by a member of the public.

In the social media post, police said Detective Brenden Barnes helped out a woman whose car had run out of gas. The woman had her daughter with her, and was in a bit of a bind.

The incident happened on Drum Point Road, near the Osbornville Baptist Churt.

"Det. Barnes took a trip to the nearest gas station, bought a gas can and gas, drove it back and got them back on their way," the caption on the social media post said. "It just so happened that someone saw this and snapped a picture to send it our way. A job well done, Det. Barnes."
