Services Set For Ellen Prisco, Brick Kindergarten Teacher

The 28-year member of the district was honored as teacher of the year in 1993.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Aug. 27 for Ellen Prisco, a longtime Brick Township kindergarten teacher, who died Aug. 9 in Sarasota, Fla., after a long battle with cancer, according to her obituary on the Asbury Park Press website. She was 77.

Prisco was born in Long Branch and raised in Lakewood, and a graduate of Kean College. She taught kindergarten in the Brick schools for 28 years, at Emma Havens Young School and at the Primary Learning Center, retiring in 2000. In 1993 she was selected as Teacher of the Year and was a participant in the Governors Teacher Recognition Program.

She and her husband, Anthony, maintained a home in Sarasota aw well as living in Brick, and she was a Master Gardener and past President of the Garden Club of Brick, and an active member of the Sarasota and Brick Township Art Societies.

She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Schiff. She is survived by her devoted husband Anthony Prisco, and her two loving children Rory Prisco McCormick and her husband, Kevin, of Brick, and Vance Prisco and his wife Jenniffer of Point Pleasant, as well as grandchildren Kaitlyn McCormick Thomasey and her husband, Joseph, Lauren Prisco, Shawn McCormick, Lindsay Prisco, Anthony Prisco and his wife Brianna, and great-grandson Finley Thomasey as well as her sister, Gail Shepard.

Visitation will be at Thursday, Aug. 27 at St. Peter’s Church, 406. Forman Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, from 10-11 a.m. followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. with burial at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt, NJ.
