Tornado Touched Down In Brick Tuesday: National Weather Service
While widespread damage in Toms River was attributed to straight-line winds, a small tornado moved through Normandy Beach.

BRICK, NJ — A small tornado moved through the Normandy Beach section of Brick on Tuesday, flipping boats and trailers and damaging at least one home, the National Weather Service said Thursday.
The weather service announced its findings after doing more investigation into reports of damage that happened Tuesday during the same storm that caused widespread damage in Toms River. That damage, the weather service said, was caused by straight-line winds.
The tornado, which formed about 3 p.m. Tuesday, started as a waterspout over Barnegat Bay between Silver Bay and Kettle Creek, then moved ashore at the Normandy Beach Yacht Club.

"This weak tornado may have lifted as it proceeded east across Route 35 and approached the coast just north of the Normandy Shores Beach Club," the weather service said.
As it crossed into the ocean it became a waterspout again, "causing little or no additional damage," the service said.
