5 Students Earn College Scholarships At West Essex, JCHS

The University Women of West Essex (UWWE) recently awarded five college scholarships. To enable women to attend college is the central aim of UWWE. For many years, the UWWE has presented college scholarships to area high school students.

A scholarship was awarded to Sarah Burton who was graduated from James Caldwell High School and she will attend The College of New Jersey to major in Elementary Education.

The UWWE was pleased to award four scholarships to young women graduating from West Essex High School. These scholarships were awarded to: Sarah Kurdusiewicz, who will attend Rutgers University in New Brunswick, Mengyi Wang who will study at New York University in the pre-med curriculum, Samantha Zisa who will attend Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston and major in engineering, and Ashley Zisa who will study physical therapy at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania.

Since its inception, the UWWE has awarded many scholarships through funds raised from its fellowship activities and donated by members. The UWWE welcomes new members to be a part of this caring community of women who support each other, are life-long learners, have fun together and raise funds for college scholarships.
