Beloved Teacher, Coach In Caldwells Dies: ‘A Person Of Integrity’

CALDWELLS, NJ — For years, Mark Teshkoyan taught his students and players “character” – what it means to have integrity and contribute to society. And this is just one of the many reasons that the beloved Caldwell-West Caldwell teacher and coach will be missed, his peers say.

Earlier this week, the Caldwell-West Caldwell Public School District announced Teshkoyan’s passing. School administrators offered a touching message of condolence in his honor:

“The Caldwell-West Caldwell school community mourns the passing of Mr. Mark Teshkoyan, JCHS teacher and coach. Mr. Teshkoyan was an outstanding teacher of industrial arts, and along with his brother Mike, coach to some of the most successful soccer and softball teams in JCHS history. He taught our children practical arts and athletic skills. As part of that educational experience, though, Mr. Teshkoyan also developed character; he modeled what it means to be a person of integrity and someone who contributes to society. The Caldwell-West Caldwell School District is grateful for his exceptional service to the young people who have had the good fortune to be impacted by his work.”

“Mark Teshkoyan was a wonderful colleague,” administrators said. “His kindheartedness and humor never failed to lift everyone, and he will be deeply missed.”

Resources to support students and staff who are grieving his loss are available, administrators said.
