Big Fish In Essex County; Young Anglers Reel 'Em In (PHOTOS)

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Some big fish tales are being created – along with fantastic memories – as part of the 2018 Essex County Fishing Derbies.

The free, annual contests are open to locals 15-years-old and younger. Recent events took place at Branch Brook Park and Grover Cleveland Park.

Upcoming fishing derbies are slated for:

• Verona Park – May 17 (Update: Due to inclement weather, the Verona Park Fishing Derby has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 6. Registration will be from 5-6 pm, the derby be from 6-7:30 pm and awards will be presented at 7:45 pm.)
• Weequahic Park – May 24
• Irvington Park – June 7
• Monte Irvin Orange Park – June 9
• South Mountain Recreation Complex – June 14

For more information, call 973-735-6228. In case of inclement weather, cancellations will be posted on www.essexcountynj.org. Cancelled fishing derbies will not be rescheduled.
