CALDWELL, NJ — A new academic support program at Caldwell University is reaching out to students with learning disabilities.

The university recently announced the launch of its Student Outreach and Academic Resources program (SOAR). According to administrators, the program will provide students with language-based learning disabilities and/or attention deficit disorders with the tools they need to succeed in a post-secondary setting.

Through the SOAR program, students will get access to services such as tutoring, writing coaching, and peer mentoring with a member of the national honor society Delta Alpha Pi.

“We are also excited that junior and senior students in SOAR will be given career-building and leadership skills training and workshops,” said Elizabeth Skinner, director of accessibility services.

Skinner added that there will be a short pre-semester summer program for incoming freshmen to familiarize them with the university atmosphere and services.
