Caldwell University Students Learn Life Lesson in Belize

A group of university students had a life changing experience while serving poor in Belize

A group of Caldwell University students went through a life altering experience while serving the poor during a nine day trip in Belize during winter break.

The group stayed in a Caribbean port town of Punta Gorda, and did service work in Santa Cruz, in the country’s Toledo district.

The students replaced the walls of a local church with cinder blocks and made mortar from scratch with limited tools.

“They have so little and are so happy,” said sophomore Sean Puzzo. “Yet, in America, people have so much (materially) and are often so sad.”

The participants included students Jessica Marco, Crista Cattano, Kailin Rodeo, Catherine Ringhoff, Debra Pellegrino, Virginia Johnson, Emma Clarke and alumnus Patrick Lehosky. Tim Kessler-Cleary, director of student engagement, Meghan Moran, assistant director of student engagement and Amy Rizzo, athletic administrator and women’s lacrosse coach, served as chaperones.
