Caldwell Water Main Project Will Affect Parking, Traffic

Caldwell officials offer details about a construction project on Wakefield Place expected to last until the end of February 2019.

CALDWELL, NJ — An effort to replace a water main on Wakefield Place in Caldwell will kick off on Thursday, Jan. 24. Construction is expected to affect parking and traffic, and will last until the end of February, authorities said.

According to a Caldwell municipal news release, except for emergencies, all work on Wakefield Place will be performed between 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Depending upon conditions, some work may be required on Saturdays.

No parking will be allowed on Wakefield Place during the aforementioned time period. Wakefield Place will be closed to vehicular traffic during the construction. Detours will be in place, officials said.

“If you need to leave your residence during the construction, please do so before 7:30 a.m.,” town officials stated. “If you need to leave your residence after 7:30 a.m., please park your vehicle the night before on one of the surrounding side streets.”

Overnight parking will be allowed on all side streets surrounding Wakefield Place, including Welshman Court, Ella Road, Central Avenue and Park Avenue, except for when snow is forecasted, officials said.

“You will have uninterrupted night and weekend access to your homes and driveways,” Caldwell officials said. “Any questions can be directed to the Caldwell Police Department at (973) 226-2600.”
