The former West Caldwell resident was captain of the Flag Bearing Team at James Caldwell High School.

Former West Caldwell resident Mary Louise Ward (nee Rauschenberger) passed away on Oct. 7.

She was 53-years-old.

“Mary Louise Ward (nee Rauschenberger), 53, of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, formerly of West Caldwell, NJ, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 7, 2015.

“Mary was born in Silver Springs, MD and raised in West Caldwell, NJ. She graduated from James Caldwell High School in 1981, where she was the Captain of the Flag Bearing Team, and from Johnson & Wales College, RI in 1983 with a degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management.

“It was in college that she met and later married the love of her life, Gary Ward.

“Mary was a manager at the Jefferson Diner in Lake Hopatcong for many years. She was also a manager at Charlie Browns in Denville, NJ before her retirement.

“Perhaps she would like to be remembered vacationing down at the Jersey Shore or bowling a spare with the Jefferson Bowling League. Most importantly it was time spent with the family she loved.

“She is survived by her beloved husband, Gary M.; devoted parents, Frank J. Rauschenberger and Carol A. Woods; adored children, Nicole L. and Eric M.; loving sisters, Patricia A. Vandigriff and Kathleen M. McCoy; and a dear brother, Michael A. Rauschenberger; also several nieces and nephews.

“In lieu of flowers, donations to the A.S.P.C.A., 424 E 92nd Street, New York, NY 10128-6804, would be greatly appreciated.”
