Essex County College Hosting Manufacturing Career Day
Current and prospective students are invited to attend the event tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon.

Prospective manufacturers who are preparing to search for a career in New Jersey will have information and representatives at their disposal as various manufacturers, educational institutions and associations gather to speak on the future of the field.
Essex County College’s Center for Technology Newark campus is hosting its 3rd annual Manufacturing Career Day for current and prospective students at its First Floor Atrium from 9 a.m. to noon tomorrow.
The career day is part of a series of events that lead up to National Manufacturing Day taking place Oct. 3. The day was started in 2012 to facilitate discussion about and improve public perception of the manufacturing industry.

Ravi Manimaran, Chair of the College’s Division of Engineering Technologies & Computer Sciences, said that those seeking jobs in the manufacturing field today must be flexible, diverse in their skill set and have training in a variety of engineering technology such as electronic, mechanical, and manufacturing.
“New Jersey’s manufacturing community is vital to our state’s economic growth,” said Lynore DeSantis, New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program Chief Financial Officer. “This annual celebration recognizes how crucial manufacturing is to our economy and spreads awareness about the diverse positions in our sector.”

For more information on Manufacturing Career Day, interested persons may call Manimaran at 973-877-3454. The week’s activities will conclude Oct. 3 with a program discussing manufacturing in New Jersey from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset.
