Essex County Obituary: Ann Marie Lennon, Religious Educator, Dominican Sisters of Caldwell

Caldwell, NJ - Ann Marie Lennon passed away on March 11.

“Sr. Ann Marie Lennon, OP, ( formerly Sr. M. Dolorosa) 81, died on Friday, March 11, 2016 in St. Catherine of Siena Healthcare Center in Caldwell, NJ.

“Born in NYC, NY, Sister entered the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell on August 15, 1953 and earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Caldwell College and a Masters in Religious Education from LaSalle College..

“Sister taught Elementary grades at St. Aedan School in Jersey City, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament School, Roseland, Sacred Heart School, Lyndhurst, Our Lady of Peace School, New Providence and Our Lady of the Lake School, Verona.

“Sister served as the Director of Religious Education at Sacred Heart Parish in Howarth, NJ and St. Margaret Parish in Bayou La Batre, AL, where she was also principal.

“Sr. Ann Marie was also the principal of St. Francis deSales School in Abaco, Bahamas, and St. Virgil School in Morris Plains.

“Sister Ann Marie was the Director of Development of the Link Community School in Newark and Pastoral Associate at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Verona and then was Program Coordinator at the Marywood Retreat Center & Executive Director of the Maternity Home, both in Jacksonville, Florida.

“She was predeceased by her siblings and is survived by niece, Elizabeth Main, her nephews, Chip, James and Michael Corbin and cousins Pat Brown and Marist Brother Joseph Maura

“In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sisters of St. Dominic, One Ryerson Avenue, Caldwell, NJ 07006 would be appreciated.”
