Brown later admitted that he carjacked the vehicle in Hillside earlier that day. Brown also told law enforcement officers where he put the keys to the carjacked vehicle and the gun he used during the carjacking, both of which were recovered by law enforcement officers.

Brown previously pled guilty before U.S. District Judge William J. Martini to an information charging him with one count of theft of a motor vehicle by force, violence, and intimidation, and one count of use of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

In addition to the prison term, Judge Martini sentenced Brown to five years of supervised release and ordered him to pay $1,850 in restitution.
