Halloween Storm Hits Caldwells; Traffic Lights Out, Roads Closed
West Caldwell and Caldwell police issued alerts about storm damage that dragged into Friday morning.
CALDWELLS, NJ — The Caldwells weren’t spared from the Halloween storm, with closed roads and downed power lines affecting traffic into Friday morning, authorities said.
Westville Avenue in Caldwell was closed between Washburn Place and Runnymede Road on Friday morning after storms hit the area, police said.
“Please plan an alternate route,” police told local drivers.

West Caldwell was also hit by the storm, authorities said.
According to the West Caldwell Police Department:

“West Caldwell and Caldwell experienced heavy winds last night that brought down trees and power lines. Lane Avenue is closed from Bloomfield Avenue to Park Street. High School traffic must enter from Westville Avenue. Traffic Lights are currently out at the intersections of Bloomfield/Lane and Bloomfield/Fairfield/Clinton. Please avoid Bloomfield Avenue. Please be alert for any downed power wires that have not been reported to us yet. The good news: No-one was injured!”
