Also, all areas of New Jersey were dealing with near-drought conditions, but that could end this weekend. Rain is expected for Friday night and early Saturday.

Sudden downpours can cause brief travel disruptions around major cities from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia, New York City and Boston into Saturday, AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams said in a release.

For New Jersey, however, wind will be the main threat. A few thunderstorms can also bring wind gusts strong enough to knock down tree limbs and send loose items flying, according to AccuWeather.
