High Wind Advisory Issued For Caldwell, Essex County: Local Weekend Weather Forecast Here

Are you planning an outdoor activity this weekend? You might want to take precautions.

On Friday morning, the National Weather Service issued a weekend weather advisory for several areas in New Jersey, including Essex County and the Caldwells.

The NWS High Wind Watch predicts “strong and gusty winds” for Saturday night and Sunday morning. Winds may reach 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, forecasters predict.

“Trees and power lines may be downed… This may lead to scattered power outages… and difficulty driving high-profile vehicles,” NWS forecasters stated.

LOCAL FORECAST

The following forecast comes via the NWS.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 73. Southwest wind 11 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: A chance of showers, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. West wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. West wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday Night: A chance of rain showers before 2am, then rain and snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Breezy, with a west wind 8 to 13 mph increasing to 17 to 22 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday: A chance of snow showers before 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 42. Windy, with a northwest wind 26 to 31 mph decreasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 31.
