Joint Effort Leads To 3 Arrests After West Caldwell Burglary: PD
A joint effort between the West Caldwell, Caldwell, Verona and NJ state police departments led to the arrest of three accused burglars.
WEST CALDWELL, NJ — A joint effort between the West Caldwell, Caldwell, Verona and New Jersey state police departments recently led to the arrest of three accused burglars, authorities reported Wednesday.
The West Caldwell Police Department released a statement about the arrests. Authorities wrote:
“Just before 9 a.m., a resident from Distler Avenue reported that sometime overnight their vehicle was entered and belongings were stolen. Officers Marta and Berardino conducted the initial investigation and later summoned Detective Redmerski to assist in processing the scene. Officers canvassed the area and located video footage from multiple locations in the area of the suspect vehicle and the suspects committing the burglary, just before 11 p.m.”

“Our newly assigned detective, working his first case, immediately began making contact with West Essex area detectives after recalling that a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle was reported stolen and also being in the West Essex area overnight last night. It was later determined that the stolen Honda CRV was pursued into Jersey City where the vehicle crashed and the three suspects were captured by the New Jersey State Police. Detective Redmerski began coordinating his efforts with Verona PD, Caldwell PD and the NJSP. Detective Redmerski was able to make a positive identification of the suspects in the stolen motor vehicle were one in the same as the individuals in the video footage at the motor vehicle burglary.”
Police charged Michael Howard, 22, and Yeser Paula, 18, of Jersey City, and Kaylan Moses, 19, of Irvington, with 3rd degree burglary, 3rd degree conspiracy to commit burglary and theft of movable property.
All three suspects are being detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility, police said.
