Local Designers' Gifts Stuffed in Oscar Swag Bags

Jewelery and maternity wear among the gifts to celebrities.

Hollywood stars and media types have been collecting their Oscar swag this week and tucked inside some of those bags is merchandise from a Short Hills clothing designer and a Millburn jewelry designer.

Millburn jewelry designer Debrah Block Krol, who was featured recently on Fox Business, had the opportunity to share her dbk designs in swag bags at both the Golden Globes in January and in the Oscar swag at the GBK Celebrity Gift Lounge.

Krol gave out a "mermaid" cuff (see photo) in association with The Artisan Group, and is watching the show tonight with extra interest.

"Yes, I am watching—it has been an exciting few days," Krol said. "The GBK Celebrity Gift Lounge was open on Friday and Saturday, and so many celebs came to The Artisan Group's table."

Krol joins another local designer in giving gifts to celebrities.

Maggie Zembruski, a designer and mother of two from Short Hills, was asked to provide some of her maternity active wear from her new line me2Roo that uses color therapy to enhance the mood of the moms for the Oscars Boom Boom Room celebrity gifting suite.

Zembruski said she uses colors in her maternity designs because they have "long been recognized for their healing, inspiring and restorative powers."

The experience is exciting, she said. "It has been an amazing transformation. I launched my first collection in the Fall and now I'm capturing front-line attention."
