Main Break On Smull Ave In North Caldwell; Water To Be Shut Off

North Caldwell PD: Once the repair is complete there may be brown or tinted water coming from the faucets.

NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — A water main break took place in North Caldwell on Tuesday, officials said.

North Caldwell borough officials issued notice about the break:

“A water valve replacement is in progress on Smull Avenue at Soder Road. Water will be shut off from approximately 3:45 p.m. [on Tuesday] for about two hours. Water may be discolored when service is restored; run a faucet until clear. Thank you for your patience.”

The North Caldwell Police Department also issued an advisory at 3:31 p.m.:

“There is a water main break in the area of 242 Smull Avenue. The water department is on scene and is working to repair the system. If you live in the area you may experience low or no water pressure. Please understand they are working as quickly as possible to restore the service. Once the repair is complete there may be brown or tinted water coming from the faucets. Please run the water for a few minutes and it will clear up. Thank you for your patience.”
