‘Outstanding Detective Work’ Finds Missing Man In Caldwell
A Caldwell police detective helped find a missing man. Here's how it all went down, authorities say.
CALDWELL, NJ — “Outstanding work” from a Caldwell police detective helped to find a missing man in Glen Ridge last week, authorities said.
On Friday, police issued the following statement:
“The Caldwell Police Department would like to recognize the outstanding work by Detective DeAngelo. On June 30, at approximately 2 p.m., a male was reported missing to this PD, and the last known contact was a phone call at 9:15 a.m. that day. It was believed he left his residence at approximately 9:30 a.m. headed to a local hospital. There was no other way to locate him as he did not have a cellphone nor did his vehicle have any tracking mechanism in place. This information was entered into a statewide system and shared with local departments in an attempt to locate this individual. With this information in hand, Detective DeAngelo searched the area it was believed he was headed to.”
Thankfully, DeAngelo was able to locate the missing man operating his vehicle in Glenn Ridge about eight hours after the 9:15 a.m. phone call, police said.
