PSE&G Replacing ‘Aging Gas Pipes’ In West Caldwell (Traffic Info)
An effort to replace "aging cast iron gas pipes" has kicked off in West Caldwell. Lane closures to local roads are possible, officials said.

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — An effort to replace “aging cast iron gas pipes” in West Caldwell kicked off Monday, officials said.
From Monday Oct. 8 to Friday, Oct. 12 during the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (weather permitting), PSE&G will be working in the area of Passaic Avenue and Martin Road to continue updating the gas pipeline infrastructure in the township, the West Caldwell Police Department stated.
“Officers will be posted in the area providing traffic control,” the WCPD stated. “Lane closures are possible. Please use an alternate route of travel during these times.”

PSE&G explains more about the work in West Caldwell on its website:
“PSE&G will be working in West Caldwell to replace aging cast iron gas pipes with new, durable plastic and/or coated steel piping – ensuring the continued safety and reliability of our gas system well into the future. Work will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 pm and 6 am through Friday, October 6th. Starting Monday October 8th work will shift to day hours between 8 am and 6 pm with the potential for Saturday work. The gas main replacement and services portion of the work is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
