NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — A man tried to rob a bank in North Caldwell on Monday afternoon, but only got away with an empty envelope, police say.

According to the North Caldwell Police Department, the attempted robbery took place at the Wells Fargo Bank on Bloomfield Avenue.

“The male passed a note to the teller demanding money,” police said. “The teller was quick to react and was able to have the suspect leave with an empty envelope.”
