Storm Causes Power Outages In Caldwells: ‘PSEG Has Been Notified’
The Caldwells were among the North Jersey towns that saw power outages after a severe storm ripped through the state.
CALDWELLS, NJ — The Caldwells were among the North Jersey towns that saw power outages after a severe storm ripped through the state Tuesday night.
More than 45,000 New Jersey customers remained without electricity on Wednesday morning. Initially, more than 80,000 customers lost power.
Thousands of PSE&G customers were affected. The outages hit JCP&L customers as well; the utility company was reporting more than 39,000 customers are without power throughout the Garden State as of 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Read More: More Than 45K Remain Without Power In NJ Following Thunderstorms

As of 9 a.m. on Wednesday, PSE&G’s online outage map showed four active outages in West Caldwell, affecting 14 out of 4,961 customers. There were five active outages in Caldwell, with 10 out of 4,193 customers affected. No outages were shown in North Caldwell on the map.
The West Caldwell Police Department reported that an outage took place near Bloomfield and Fairfield avenues late Tuesday night.

“PSE&G has been notified and has not given an estimated restoral time,” West Caldwell police stated.
Outages were also seen in Caldwell after a downed tree brought down power lines, authorities said.
The Caldwell Police Department issued an update at 7:52 a.m. on Wednesday:
“Brookside Avenue between Gould Place and Cleveland Road is closed due to a downed tree that brought down power lines,” Caldwell police stated. “PSE&G has been notified and restored 90 percent of the power.”
“Please do not go near the downed power lines,” Caldwell police added. “PSE&G will be back on scene to restore the rest of the power.”
