James Caldwell High School Art teacher, Ms. Jane Romm, submitted the grant application through which she identified the iPad as being at the forefront of innovative and dynamic tools for art education.
Ms. Romm: “I applied for the grant because I've been noticing a shift in the direction art professionals and educators are working. In order to succeed in the future job market, it is important for students to learn how to create artwork digitally using 21st century technology, to become aware of art historical precedents, and to become fluent in digital concepts. This set of iPad Pros will be accessible to the entirety of the Fine Arts Department at James Caldwell High School. Students in Draw/Paint/Design, Digital Photography, Computer Graphics, Ceramics, Art History, and any future programs can implement the applications into the curriculum. While students in DPD may use them to do elaborate paintings in Procreate one day, Digital Photography students may create multi-layered photo collages in Affinity Photo the next. The possibilities are endless with this type of technology.”
