The 2019-2020 academic year will mark the second year Trinity Academy has offered Transitional Kindergarten for students who need the gift of time. Families whose children qualify for and participate in our Transitional Kindergarten program confirm their children have benefited greatly from this new program.
“At Trinity Academy, we are continually striving to give the best educational opportunities to our students,” explains Trinity Academy Principal, Linda Payonzeck. “This Transitional Kindergarten program is specifically designed for the students, who based on, teacher recommendation and the Gesell developmental assessment, will benefit from the ‘gift of time’ and for those students who are a ‘young five’ with birthdays from June through November. This allows for further development in a less rigorous and stressful environment.”

To ensure students get the individualized attention required and are ready for Kindergarten by the following fall, Trinity Academy’s Transitional Kindergarten class features small class sizes (10-14), review curriculum from Pre-K4, reinforce and enhance all skills achieved and introduce new skills required for Kindergarten. Children will wear uniforms just as their Trinity Academy Kindergarten classmates do and will attend a full day of school.
Trinity Academy’s Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes have access to the same great resources as our older Elementary School students: a large gym, computer lab, music room, plus playground and more. They also benefit from interacting with their older Trinity cohorts through shared experiences and book buddy programs.
Why Private K-8 Over Public Elementary and Middle
For those families with older students, grades 1-7, this is a great time to consider transferring to Trinity Academy. Trinity Academy is a Middle States Accredited, 2015 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence with over 27 years of dedication to educating “the whole person” from Pre-K through the pre-teen years. In our time as educators, we have come to understand the importance a nurturing environment, small class sizes and individualized attention on child development. Personal development, academic development, self-respect and empathy all thrive in a Catholic K-8 environment – where we are free to talk about morals and values as they relate to our everyday studies and behaviors.
Parents, teachers, and administrators at many K–8 schools anecdotally report that their students demonstrated fewer behavioral problems and higher academic achievement than many students enrolled in public middle schools. “We found that our children have had the opportunity to enjoy each age at Trinity Academy. There seems to be less pressure to ‘grow up quickly’ when compared to our friends in public school,” explains Kristi Castano, a parent of two current 5th grade and 7th grade students at Trinity Academy.
“Middle school can be a challenging time in any pre-teen’s life. There is a natural desire to become more independent, test the waters, and ‘try on’ different adult personas. We give our students wings to explore but guardrails to ensure they remain empathetic and kind to each other in the process,” Principal Payonzeck explains.
We encourage, parents and their children to use this Spring Open House as an opportunity to learn more about our Elementary (grades 1-5) and Middle School (grades 6-8). Visiting families will have an opportunity to meet our teachers and student ambassadors from 5-8 grade, take a tour of the school and check out our extracurricular activities. Families may discover Trinity Academy is a great fit for their child’s needs.
Trinity Academy will be accepting Elementary and Middle School transfer applications as well as Pre-K and Kindergarten registrations during the Spring Open House, May 19th from 12:30-3:00pm.
Attendees will gather important information about the Pre-K through Grade 8 academic curriculum, as well as extracurricular activities, athletic programs, technology use, and the nurturing environment that allows every child to thrive. There will be an opportunity to meet administration and faculty, tour the school, and hear from current students and parents. To RSVP to the Trinity Academy Open House, prospective parents may visit the school website: trinityk8.com/open-house.
