West Caldwell Almost Has 70% Of Adults Vaccinated: Mayor
West Caldwell is circling a big, coronavirus-related number: 70 percent.

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — West Caldwell continues its march towards a big number: 70 percent.
West Caldwell Mayor Joe Tempesta released a coronavirus update on Friday, noting that the township’s adult population almost has 70 percent of adults vaccinated against COVID-19.
“As of May 7, 2021 we currently have 20 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in West Caldwell’s general population since last my last call several weeks ago,” Tempesta said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the town has had a total of 719 cases, the mayor said. Out of these, 14 people have died in the town’s “general population.”
“Thankfully, we have had all 719 cases closed whereby those citizens recovered and no longer quarantined,” Tempesta said.

There are no current COVID-19 cases at Crane’s Mill and Hackensack Meridian Health WC Care Center, he added.
“We encourage all of you to continue the practice of social distancing, wash your hands often, and wear masks whenever possible,” Tempesta said.
