$50K On The Line In Chatham Tennis Tournament

Centercourt Club and Sports is hosting the event July 12 through July 14.

CHATHAM, NJ - A $50,000 grand prize is on the line when the Centercourt Club and Sports of Chatham hosts the Centercourt Men’s Professional Shootout from July 12 through July 14.

The event, presented by Saint Barnabas Medical Center, is part of a week of tennis events and competitions culminating in an 8-player, winner takes all tournament from Friday evening through Sunday. The finals will be held on Sunday afternoon, July 14, at 3 p.m. and the winner will receive the $50,000 check from Chairman of Saint Barnabas Medical Center Trustees Bruce Schonbraun.

According to organizers, the player field is still under development and includes Sam Querrey, who advanced to the 2017 Wimbledon Championships by defeating World Number 1 Andy Murray; French professional tennis player Quentin Halys; and Víctor Estrella Burgos who was the first Dominican player to reach the top 100 in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings.

“We developed a week packed with events which will provide several opportunities for all levels of players culminating with the $50,000 Men’s Professional Shootout,” said Managing Partner of the Centercourt Club and Sports, Clay Bibbee.

According to Bibbee, two wildcards for the $50,000 Men’s Professional Shootout will come from the qualifier event and Junior Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) Tournament.

"There will be a Qualifier Event preceding the main event for UTR levels 13.5 and below. UTR Levels 13.5 can register for the main event directly. “We thank our Presenting Sponsor, Saint Barnabas Medical Center, and all of our sponsors for their support of this tournament. Our goal is to excite and engage all levels of tennis players and enthusiasts by providing our community the opportunity to watch high level, competitive tennis in a comfortable and relaxing environment,” Bibbee said.

The Junior UTR event will include all levels and all genders. Players will be placed in divisions based on their UTR and the winner of the Elite Division will receive a wildcard to the main event.

The community is welcome to attend any part of the tournament which begins with Quarter-finals on Friday evening at 4 p.m.; Semi-finals on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and culminates with the championship on Sunday. The events will also be live-streamed.
