Chatham Borough Reported Only 3 New COVID Cases Last Week

The borough identified at least nine new cases per week in each of its April reports.

CHATHAM, NJ — Chatham Borough reported only three new COVID-19 cases in Friday's weekly case report. The weekly report showed a move in the right direction for the borough, which has identified 294 infections in 2021 and 539 since the pandemic began.

The borough's most recent COVID-19 report covers May 1 to Thursday. Chatham Borough reported at least nine cases per week during April, tallying 16 new cases in two of those timeframes — April 9-15 and April 16-21.

Chatham Township added seven new cases from April 29 to Friday, according to the Morris County Division of Public Health. The township has seen 553 cases since the onset of the pandemic.

Local reductions in cases reflect trends statewide, where new cases and transmission have reduced. For the second straight week, state officials determined Morris County — and all of New Jersey — carried "moderate" COVID-19 activity. The New Jersey Department of Health reported the county's and state's risks as "high" in recent months.

  • Following social distance guidelines (indoors and outdoors) of at least 6 feet
  • Wearing masks whenever you are around other people and cannot maintain social distancing. (Including children over two years of age)
  • Washing hands often
  • Disinfecting frequently touched surfaces
  • Staying home if you do not feel well
  • Keeping the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions distanced
