CHATHAM, NJ — Here are the latest coronavirus updates around Chatham.

Cases and Vaccinations

Twenty-four Chatham Borough residents tested positive for COVID-19 from Jan. 22 through Saturday, according to local officials. The borough has reported 356 cases to date, including 111 in 2021. Nine residents have died from the virus, according to local officials.

The Morris County Division of Public Health reported 18 new cases in Chatham Township from Jan. 25 to Tuesday. Officials have reported 365 cases in the township since the pandemic began, but the county's totals don't include death tolls by municipality.

Chatham Township's active-case total reduced from 26 to 20, Mayor Tracy Ness said Monday.

The New Jersey Department of Health has reported the following totals in Morris County as of Wednesday morning:

  • 105 new confirmed cases
  • 13 new probable cases
  • 28,192 total confirmed cases
  • 4,661 total probable cases
  • 851 confirmed deaths
  • 216 probable deaths

The state health department has logged 61,596 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in Morris County as of Wednesday morning — an increase of 11,703 in the past week.

Officials tallied about 20,000 doses administered the week prior in Morris County. But weather closures and low doses provided have affected the pace of vaccinations.

Morris County has an estimated population of 491,845, and the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines each require two doses per person.

  • New Jersey officials say they're working to fix problems caused by the nor'easter that led to the postponement of thousands of COVID vaccine appointments. MORE.
  • Gov. Phil Murphy announced on Wednesday that he's rolling back some restrictions on indoor gatherings that he set in place in November. Murphy announced that limits on indoor gatherings will increase to 35 percent, up from the current 25 percent, effective 8 a.m. on Friday. The number of people permitted indoors will be limited to 150. MORE.
