Chatham First Responders Cut Victim Free Of Car Crash

A car was struck by a truck and sent into the woods, officials said.

CHATHAM, NJ - The full staff at the Chatham Borough Volunteer Fire Department paid off Tuesday night when they responded to a serious motor vehicle accident shortly after 10 p.m.

According to authorities a tractor trailer collided with a car on Route 24 East sending the car ten feet off of the road and into woods.

First responders at the scene said that the occupant of the car was conscious and breathing but needed to be cut free from the vehicle, authorities said.

According to the Chatham Borough Volunteer Fire Department, they had a full crew in place after the multiple tornado warnings that were broadcast through the area and were able to respond to the motor vehicle accident within minutes from dispatch.

The patient was transported to the hospital for evaluation and their name has not been released. Police are investigating the crash and Patch will have updates when they become available.
