Chatham High To Go Remote For 2 Weeks After 7 New COVID Cases

Officials and nurses have faced challenges from some in obtaining accurate information about coronavirus exposure, the superintendent said.

CHATHAM, NJ — Chatham High School will go remote for two weeks following seven new confirmed coronavirus cases at the school, according to Superintendent Michael LaSusa. The school plans to return to in-person education Dec. 16.

All other schools in the district remain open as normal.

Officials confirmed seven new cases at the high school since Monday's return from Thanksgiving break. School officials and nurses have also recently faced challenges from some in obtaining accurate information about coronavirus exposure, according to LaSusa.

"Please be forthcoming with school principals and nurses, and please consult the

district Rules for Return and the latest DOH guidance when communicating and making decisions about school attendance," he said in a letter to parents and staff. "Our goal is to provide as much in-person learning to students as possible, and this depends on the cooperation of all."

The Morris County Health Department has reported 210 coronavirus cases in Chatham Township and 129 in Chatham Borough since the pandemic began.
