CHATHAM, NJ - The newly renovated Chatham High School Performing Arts Center will play host to the New Jersey high school premiere of the musical "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" Thursday through Saturday.

The Chatham High School Theatre Department will present the musical "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" by Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz and Peter Parnell Thursday at 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Based on the 1831 novel by Victor Hugo and songs from the Disney animated movie, it tells the story of deformed Notre Dame bell ringer, Quasimodo, who longs to be “Out There” among the local Parisians. After escaping the tower where he has been held captive by the overbearing archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, Quasimodo finds himself treated cruelly by everyone but the beautiful and enchanting gypsy Esmeralda. Alas, he is not her only admirer. Competing with Frollo and the handsome Captain Phoebus, Quasimodo finds himself in a battle with Frollo to save the gypsies.
