Chatham Schools Set Delayed Openings as Bad Weather Rages On
Public schools will have a delayed start, as the Chatham community battles ice, flash freezes, and snow.

Chatham public schools will have a delayed opening Tuesday morning, as flash freeze conditions and cold winds surge across the area.
- Chatham High School will open at 9: 40 a.m.
- Chatham Middle School will open at 10 a.m.
- Lafayette School will open at 10:45 a.m.
- Chatham Elementary Schools will open at 10: 35 a.m.
- All morning kindergarten and preschool sessions are cancelled.
There will be a slight chance of snow showers in Chatham before 11 p.m. Temperatures will plummet Monday night, with lows around 10 degrees and wind chill values falling to 5 below zero, the NWS reports.
Blustery wind gusts will reach 36 miles per hour tonight. The bitter cold will continue tomorrow, with highs around 21 degrees and wind chills as low as 3 below zero.

The National Weather Service says flash freeze conditions are expected across the state as sharply colder air surges back across New Jersey. Temperatures were expected to rapidly fall below freezing in areas that are currently above freezing, according to the police.

Snow started falling hard in Chatham and central New Jersey late Monday, compelling the New Jersey Turnpike to expand speed restrictions on the Turnpike and Garden State Parkway to 35 mph.
